The New and Improved VESA!

The Purdue University Calumet Veterans’ Enlisted Student Association (VESA) came under new management during Fall semester 2012. Bill Rosado is the new Chairman and Karolina Broniek is the new co-chairman.
Since inception VESA has tried to help and support all veterans and their families successfully transition into civilian life, especially during their college career. We welcome all veterans, their friends and families, and any student, who supports our veterans.
Although VESA is mainly a veteran organization, we also support and will assist in improving the community we live in.
VESA has been extremely active during the Fall 2012 semester. With From Boots to Books, we co-sponsored the NORTHWEST INDIANA STAND DOWN. The event took place on October 6, 2012 in US Steel Yard, Gary, In. Stand Downs are events that provide services to veterans and their families, such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings and services, Veteran Administration (VA) and Social Security benefits, counseling, and referrals to a variety of other necessary services, such as housing, employment, education and substance abuse treatment. The event was open to all veterans, enlisted, spouses and family members. We have helped over 300 veterans. Special thanks to the PUC and IUN ROTC cadets.
During the Holiday season, VESA members worked with the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program purchasing gifts for children from the ages of 5-to- 12 years of age. Ten children sponsored by VESA received gifts and winter clothing. VESA also assisted in the distribution of the toys for the area on December 19, 2012. Even though they worked with the Salvation Army, VESA chose their own “Angels” from the campus to assist in making the holidays happy. Children of some parents that attend Purdue Calumet were also given presents this holiday.

Because of the work these students have and are currently doing, we ask that everyone take a minute and salute these men and women who truly believe that No veteran or service member should ever be left behind!

If you have any questions or suggestions please feel free to contact us.

We hope to accomplish much more during the Spring semester, and for as long as VESA is on the PUC campus, we will watch your six!
