Purdue Calumet’s Equestrian Team coaches possess extensive riding and training experience, in addition to a lifetime of equine wisdom. Our coaches understand that the team must not only be highly competitive and strong in team unity, but must also understand the unique needs of each horse they care for and ride. The Purdue Calumet Equestrian Team is a place to ride and compete and also a place to learn what it means to become a true horse-person.
Alexandra “AJ” Moran, MSW has been riding since the age of 6. Having owned Quarter horses, Warmbloods, Thoroughbreds and Arabs, she successfully competes in hunter-jumpers and enjoys riding Dressage and Western. She excels in the breaking and training of young horses and the training of intermediate and advanced level riders, helping them better communicate with their mounts and become more comprehensive horsemen. AJ is a licensed equine appraiser, as well as an active member and competing member of the USEF, USHJA and AHA.

Kitty Rex is a 3rd generation horsewoman and has bred, raised and trained horses her entire life. Kitty truly enjoys sharing the unique relationships horses have to offer and hopes that each rider she trains develops their own reason for wanting to become involved with horses. Last year, the Western Team successfully competed in IHSA Regional’s and this year their goal is set on Semi-Finals and Nationals.
“We have a great group of riders and I can’t wait to see what they’re fully capable of!”- Kitty Rex
